K A W A I I
by Urbanaut In a great example of product led growth (in the non-tech sense), Kawaii is an unassuming looking cafe serving Japanese ‘mochi’ ice-cream. If you visit their Instagram page you’ll be thrown into some seemingly incomprehensible gen-z content, but their dessert quality is 👌👌
Bangalore Creative Circus
by Urbanaut A self-described “living lab” - Bangalore Creative Circus is a delightful hub of creativity, sustainability, excellent experiences and workshops, kid-friendly activities and a great cafe to boot. While the distance from central Bangalore is long, it’s well worth a visit especially for those with young kids, or people looking to engage in something creative and different. They have a ton of regular events and workshops so book yourself for one and go for it!
Love and Crumble
by Urbanaut Baker Anutha Shetty comes in clutch when it comes to “extra-large decadent cookies that are worth indulging in”. Hit her up for salted caramel, dark chocolate or Nutella variants because they sell like hot cakes. If you’d rather take part in the process, get some cookie dough from her to bake at home, or pitch some out-of-the-box ideas at her for personalised goodies.
Cantan
by Urbanaut Subtle flavours, fresh ingredients - beloved Bangalore chef Manu Chandra does it again at his newest Cantonese restaurant in the heart of the city. Authentic, yet the flavours feel familiar. The drinks and an airy yet cozy ambience (see how they did that again?) make this place a winner
Sunny's Restaurant
by Urbanaut Named after the owner’s dog, Sunny’s has been feeding people consistently good European food since 1995. It’s the OG dining experience in Bangalore - especially for those looking for a break from Indian food
Ice & Spice Burgers
by Urbanaut Bangalore’s OG Burger Queen Mrs Kuttapa bringing joy to the city with her burgers, cutlets and mayo subs. An iconic food institution in Bangalore, she’s back in business at the age of 76!
Lavonne Café
by Urbanaut Lavonne in an institution in Bangalore, both for whipping up delectable eats and for training future pastry chefs. The café is managed by the eponymous institute’s students and serves French-style pastries and bakes along with salads, pastas and the usual beverage suspects. We’d recommend starting off with desserts, to shuffle up the order of things — we think you’ll find you’d quite like to stuff yourself with that!
Cubbon Park
by Urbanaut
Kazé Bar & Kitchen
by Urbanaut Opulent rooftop bar with panoramic views of the city. Kaze is the current toast of the town with decadent cocktails and incredible pan-Asian food
Harima
by Urbanaut Simple and quiet Japanese restaurant nestled away amidst the bustle of Residency road. Visit for authentic cuisine, drinks and ambience that is both homely and refined.
Green Theory
by Urbanaut Those who perceive vegetarian food as limiting need to head to Green Theory. Housed in a gorgeous colonial bungalow, the eclectic cafe/ restaurant doesn’t hold back in experimentation and flavours. The carefully curated, inclusive menu is made up of seasonal dishes that perfectly balance sweet and savoury. We’re also in love with the space, which seems much like an extension of their green-first ethos — lush cascading plants and massive trees create a wonderful atmosphere to dine in. What can be more ‘Bangalore’ than that?
Amintiri
by Urbanaut We wouldn’t recommend scrolling through Amintiri when you’re hungry — your wallet might just take a big hit. It’s Bangalore’s go-to for decadent cakes and pastries, whatever the occasion. It’s nit your average selection, we’ll tell you that!
LUPA
by Urbanaut Crafted to remind you of a lavish Tuscan villa (even though you’ve stepped in from the chaos of MG road), Lupa is a labour of love and extraordinary detail by Chef Manu Chandra. Global food that’s excellent (and hard to pin down), fantastic service and a really stellar ambience in the centre of town - Lupa deserves the hype and is the kind of restaurant Bangalore desperately needs. Hat tip to the chef/owner.
The 13th Floor / Ebony restaurant
by Urbanaut What they lack for in design - they make up for with the view. And the food. Experience the best of the glorious Bangalore weather and unpretentious charm here.
Brik Oven
by Urbanaut Small, cute rustic pizzeria. Perfect for your pizza and shakes fix. Hand tossed pizzas with fresh sourdough bases only. There are 2 in the city. But we prefer this one coz it’s the OG.
The Flying Squirrel
by Urbanaut If you survive a walk down the very crowded Brigade Road, then you’ll want to rest your feet and get caffeinated. The Flying Squirrel is in the newly renovated Opera House building (taken over by Samsung) at the tip of Brigade Road.
The Courtyard Cultural Center
by Urbanaut A relaxed space in the middle of this bustling city, that offers a bunch of events, open air screenings, workshops, supper clubs and exhibitions. Keep an eye on their calendar to see what fun stuff the Courtyard crew is upto.
Naru Noodle Bar
by Urbanaut Nothing beats a bowl of warm, soupy ramen to go with Bengaluru’s weather! With only eight seats available at a time, Naru is a unique 'ramen on tap’ concept conceptualised by Chef Kavan Kuthappa (ex culinary head of Toit Brewpub and Permit Room). Getting this Japanese working man’s delicacy right takes nuance, skill and perfection but Naru Noodle Bar ticks off all the boxes and more with experimental ingredients, inspiration from other cuisines and the perfect host to make your ramen meal truly memorable 🍜
Trippy Goat Cafe
by Urbanaut What’s better than a relaxed coffee bar in a heritage bungalow complex with an outdoor seating area? A wine + coffee bar. Boteco - Restaurante Brasileiro
by Urbanaut Chef Duco brings his signature touch to Bangalore after cornering the Pune market. Occupying the premises of the once beloved institution Permit Room, Boteco brings a distinct new flavour to the city. Tons of tapas bites, colourful and vibrant interiors, a bright bar and an airy space makes this a favourite spot - so you’ll likely have to jostle for space on the weekends. The menu is varied and has plenty of vegetarian options - try the very popular Pão de Queijo, or the cassava and cheese croquettes. Meat eaters will be spoiled for choice - the Casquinha De Siri is a fabulous crab dish to try.
Record Room
by Urbanaut The Record Room is rooted in the love of vinyl records and craft beers. Vinyl culture has long been back in fashion but the dearth of good bars (we love For the Record in Goa) leaves a lot to be desired. Head to Record Room above Boteco (in fact, you’ll get served food from Boteco which is a great deal) where you can park yourself at their specially designed Listening Station and get a taste of their carefully curated record collection spanning genres across musical decades. They also pour craft beers from Geist and Toit along with some rad cocktails so it’s a perfect spot for aficionados, ‘vinyl curious’ folks or just someone looking for something different.

They definitely get their mixology right - experimenting with lemon, bitters, orange peel etc.

Kappa Chakka Kandhari
by Urbanaut Dining at Kappa Chakka Kandhari feels like paying culinary respects to Keralite home cooking and childhood memories revolving around comfort food. The menu is a work of art and research, considering it took Chef Regi Matthews 3 years (and meetings with more than 200 homemakers) to put together. It features classic dishes from all corners of Kerala, from Malabar to Syrian Christian fare, with a stamp of approval from Kerala’s home chefs being an underlying commonality. We also love the inviting atmosphere and the traditional yet modern decor throughout the restaurant.

Their online delivery system is efficient; they also have a handy sourdough subscription system that sends you a loaf per week for a month. We’re sold on that. You can also pop by their bakery and fermentation house to watch the magic as it happens.

They have some pretty bold flavours — there’s toffee in a tub, dates-based scoops and a coconut milk-meets-flowers concoction that were curious about.

by Urbanaut A spot that hosts some of the best gigs in town; frat house vibes that makes you want to crash at the venue itself, long after the gig is over. 😉
BENKI COFFEE
by Urbanaut Bangalore is the country’s coffee hub - given its close proximity to the coffee growing regions of Coorg and Chikmagalur. In a city of unabashed coffee snobs, Benki has established itself as the place where coffee connoisseurs go to get their coffee. They also sell high-quality coffee equipment if you’d like to stock up your house with professional coffee gear. It’s worth the trip to JP Nagar to get a cuppa at Benki. Trust us.

From the classic Bibimbap and Kimbap to the highly popular BBQ, you’ll find comfort in the sizzling hot meals served by friendly staff. There are tables and chairs to dine at, but we’d recommend choosing the low seating areas with partitions for an extra touch of authenticity. Arirang is usually packed to the rafters with regulars, so head out early.
